Devblog: HUD, crafting, quest and first challenges

The next test build is moving forward with a reworked HUD, a new gathering quest, crafting, a chest to discover, a first mini-boss and configurable keybindings.

We are preparing the next test update for Legends of Ater, with several concrete additions for gameplay and player comfort. This build continues to build the foundations of the private playtest: making the interface easier to read, adding more things to do on the map, and fixing issues that can block early sessions.

HUD rework

The interface has been reworked to be clearer in-game. Health and mana bars are now easier to read, and the action bar has been improved so players can better track their available skills during combat.

New quest: Gather Supplies

A new resource-gathering quest has been added. It sends players across the map to look for essential supplies, and acts as an early step toward clearer and more varied objectives.

Chest and first loot foundations

A first chest has been placed in the world. It contains loot and will serve as a base for future loot, exploration and map reward systems.

First mini-boss

A first mini-boss has been integrated. It offers a more demanding fight than standard enemies and gives us a better way to test combat mechanics in a more pressured situation.

Crafting and keybindings

Crafting is also arriving in this version. This is a first foundation, and it will evolve later with resources, items and player needs.

We have also added keybindings, with the option to choose between AZERTY and QWERTY keyboard layouts. This is important to make the playtest more comfortable depending on each player's setup.

Important fix

A bug in the action bar was preventing the auto-attack skill from being used correctly. It has been fixed, which should make combat feel smoother and remove a very visible frustration during testing.

As always, this update is still a work-in-progress step. The goal is to add systems gradually, test them in real conditions, then improve anything that lacks clarity or pacing.
